Abstract

Evaluation on stability and adaptability of hybrids was an important step to select superior hybrids in any breeding program. A series of experiment was conducted in three location for two different season in East Java, Indonesia to evaluate stability and adaptability of fifhteen DR Unpad hybrids and to determine their GxE interaction. Fifteen hybrids and four check-cultivar were arranged and planted in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Data of yield and component yield were analysed into an analysis of variance, combined analysis of variance, and AMMI. The results indicated that there was GxE interaction for yield. Thus, hybrids Var R showed both high stability and high yield. Var R, C, and Var G have a wide adaptability for yield. Var C and R had specific adaptation in marginal location in Sidoarjo on second season. In contrary to that results, hybrids Var F and Var B were specific hybrids for good environment such as in Ngronggot during second season.
