Abstract
Jengkol plant is one commodity that has some health benefits other than as a food source such as a drug of hypoglycemia in diabetes mellitus. Therefore it is necessary for the exploration activities as the basis for future development. Exploration activities are the basis for determining the location of the natural resources potential. Exploration is also an activity that is able to enrich genetic resources to be developed in the future. The one of jengkol producing areas in West Java is Ciamis district. However there has been no large-scale plantations jengkol, jengkol newly developed individually in the form of a garden or just planted in the yard of the house (home garden). Research conducted in the Ciamis district in October-November, 2013, using a survey method and exploration by determining the location of purposive sampling. The results were obtained 24 jengkol collection of four regions, that are Bojong , Kertabumi , Karanganyar, and ciparigi areas. Altitude ranges from 425 to 742 m asl. During the exploration phase of the plant was different, there were just entering the phase of flowering, the young pod until ready to harvest. This shows the variation of jengkol plants views of the environment and the growing phase so that it can be used as preliminary information for further research.
