Philosophy of Jurnal Wacana Politik

Who Can Submit?

Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in Jurnal Wacana Politik provided he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. Authors are the initial owners of the copyrights to their works (an exception in the non-academic world to this might exist if the authors have, as a condition of employment, agreed to transfer copyright to their employer).

General Submission Rules

Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. In addition, by submitting material to Jurnal Wacana Politik, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at Jurnal Wacana Politik. Formatting Requirements

Jurnal Wacana Politik has no general rules about the formatting of articles upon initial submission. There are, however, rules governing the formatting of the final submission. See Final Manuscript Preparation Guidelines for details. Although bepress can provide limited technical support, it is ultimately the responsibility of the author to produce an electronic version of the article as a high-quality PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format) file, or a Microsoft Word, WordPerfect or RTF file that can be converted to a PDF file.

It is understood that the current state of technology of Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is such that there are no, and can be no, guarantees that documents in PDF will work perfectly with all possible hardware and software configurations that readers may have.

Rights for Authors and Journals of Unpad

The author(s) retain the copyright of articles published in Jurnal Wacana Politik, while Journals of Unpad holds the rights to first publication. All journal content is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). This means that others may read, download, copy, distribute, and print articles for non-commercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given to the original authors and the journal. No modifications or derivative works may be made without explicit permission from the authors.

Attribution and Usage Policies

Reproduction, posting, transmission or other distribution or use of the article or any material therein, in any medium as permitted by a personal-use exemption or by written agreement of Journals of Unpad, requires credit to Journals of Unpad as copyright holder (e.g., Journals of Unpad © 2026).

Personal-use Exceptions

The following uses are always permitted to the author(s) and do not require further permission from Journals of Unpad provided the author does not alter the format or content of the articles, including the copyright notification:

  • Storage and back-up of the article on the author's computer(s) and digital media (e.g., diskettes, back-up servers, Zip disks, etc.), provided that the article stored on these computers and media is not readily accessible by persons other than the author(s);
  • Posting of the article on the author(s) personal website, provided that the website is non-commercial;
  • Posting of the article on the internet as part of a non-commercial open access institutional repository or other non-commercial open access publication site affiliated with the author(s)'s place of employment (e.g., a Phrenology professor at the University of Southern North Dakota can have her article appear in the University of Southern North Dakota's Department of Phrenology online publication series); and
  • Posting of the article on a non-commercial course website for a course being taught by the author at the university or college employing the author.

General Terms and Conditions of Use

Users of the Journals of Unpad website and/or software agree not to misuse the Journals of Unpad service or software in any way.

The failure of Journals of Unpad to exercise or enforce any right or provision in the policies or the Submission Agreement does not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. If any term of the Submission Agreement or these policies is found to be invalid, the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavor to give effect to the parties' intentions as reflected in the provision, and the other provisions of the Submission Agreement and these policies remain in full force and effect. These policies and the Submission Agreement constitute the entire agreement between Journals of Unpad and the Author(s) regarding submission of the Article.

Advertising Policy

Jurnal Wacana Politik does not accept paid advertising of any kind. The journal maintains strict editorial independence and does not allow commercial interests to influence editorial decisions, peer review outcomes, or any aspect of published content. No advertisements, sponsored content, or promotional materials from commercial entities are published in the journal or on its website.

Direct Marketing Policy

Jurnal Wacana Politik does not engage in unsolicited direct marketing. Any communication sent by the journal to potential authors, reviewers, or readers is directly related to the journal's academic activities, such as calls for papers, review invitations, or publication announcements. The journal does not sell, trade, or share the personal contact information of authors, reviewers, or readers with third parties for marketing purposes. All personal data collected through the submission and review process is used solely for editorial and publication purposes.

Article Processing Charges

Jurnal Wacana Politik does not charge any submission or manuscript processing fee. However, an Article Publication Charge (APC) of IDR 2,500,000 applies upon acceptance of a manuscript to cover editorial processing, typesetting, digital archiving, and online publication. A reduced rate of IDR 1,500,000 is available for Universitas Padjadjaran lecturers, external editors, and reviewers. If you do not have funds to pay this fee, you may apply for a fee waiver. The journal does not want financial constraints to prevent the publication of worthy work. Authors will be notified of payment procedures upon acceptance. Revenue Sources

Jurnal Wacana Politik is published by the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. The journal's operations are supported by institutional funding from Universitas Padjadjaran and by article processing charges paid by authors upon acceptance. The journal does not derive revenue from subscriptions, paid advertising, or any other commercial source. All published content is freely accessible online as part of the journal's open access commitment.

Archiving and Preservation

Jurnal Wacana Politik is committed to the long-term digital preservation of its published content. The journal participates in the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which creates a distributed archiving network among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. Published articles are also preserved through the Universitas Padjadjaran institutional repository. Authors are permitted to self-archive the final published version of their articles in institutional repositories or on personal academic websites in accordance with the journal's copyright and licensing policy.

Publication Schedule

Jurnal Wacana Politik publishes three issues per year: in January, May, and September. Accepted articles are made available online as soon as they are ready prior to the formal closing of each issue. The journal has been published continuously since October 2016.
